Melfort Communities in Bloom asking help in finding stolen truck

Aug 2, 2023 | 12:00 PM

Melfort Communities in Bloom (CiB) is looking for answers after their community truck was stolen.

On Aug. 1 at around 7:00 p.m. the truck was taken from the George Home Hardware parking lot.

Peggy George with CiB told northeastNOW that she received a phone call Tuesday morning from a family member asking if she had taken the truck.

“There was no truck in the parking lot,” she said. “I watered thoroughly yesterday and locked the truck up at 5:30 p.m.”

The truck which was a donation from George Home Hardware has been with the organization for years. George described it as a member of the CiB family.

“It’s not a Cadillac. It’s not that it had all of the bells and whistles that the $100,000 trucks have but it was our truck and we need it back in working condition,” she said.

Prior to the truck going missing, it was filled with gas and the water tank had enough water for 129 plants, points of interest and flowerbeds around Melfort.

CiB is a non-profit that works with volunteers and donations to help make Melfort a beautiful and welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.

The theft is a difficult pill to swallow for George.

“You have to believe in the good and there are so many people supporting us and patting our backs. That’s what keeps us going,” she said. “But today we’ve been ripped off.”

If anyone sees the truck, they’re asked to contact RCMP or Communities in Bloom.
