Man accused of killing mother, makes first court appearance

May 6, 2024 | 11:40 AM

A man accused of killing his mother said nothing and looked only at the judge when he made his first court appearance Monday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

In connection to the incident from last Saturday at the Bryant Place Apartments, Everett Constant, 27, is facing a charge of second-degree murder.

He’s been remanded to May 22.

According to a weekend release from Prince Albert police, they initially responded to a family dispute that turned violent. They have not released the victim’s name, but sources have confirmed it was Bev Constant.

Those same sources have also divulged Everett was under a drug psychosis when he was arrested, had been trying for months to get help, and was in hospital as recently as the night prior.

Roughly a dozen family members and supporters attended court Monday morning and were visibly emotional. Everett’s brother informed the judge they are hiring a private council.

Citing the difficulty of the time, the family declined to speak to paNOW.
