Man charged in Naicam murder makes first court appearance

A man suspected of killing a relative will return to court in Melfort next month.

Kevin Swanson, 57, has been charged with second-degree murder after an incident last week.

Melfort RCMP received a report of a serious assault at a home on 3rd Ave. N. in Naicam on May 2. When officers arrived, they found an injured man, 81-year-old Dennis Swanson, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

RCMP say the two men are related and the family has asked for privacy.

Kevin Swanson made an appearance via telephone at Melfort Provincial Court on Monday. He was ordered not to have contact with five people, who are potential witnesses in the case.
