Melfort chapter of 100 Women Who Care to hand out $10,000 on March 3

The 100 Women Who Care chapter in Melfort will soon be giving $10,000 to a worthy organization in the city.

The chapter is hosting their quarterly meeting on March 3 at the Melfort Golf and Country Club. There, they will award $10,000 to one of three nominees.

Organizer Richelle Rogers said they will listen to the three presentations and make their decision on which organization will receive the money.

The nominees are the North East SPCA, Northeast Pregnancy Options, and Girl Guides Melfort.

Rogers said while the money is obviously important to the organization that receives it, the presentation is also extremely important.

“They get a lot of recognition and some information out in the community,” explained Rogers. She said she has learned something new from each organization that has presented at the quarterly meetings in the past.

“It’s great promotion for those organizations.”

The 100 Women Who Care is comprised of 100 women who meet four times a year. For each meeting, they donate $100 of their own money, and $10,000 is donated to a worthy non-profit organization in the community. Past winners in Melfort include the North Central Health Care Foundation, Melfort Legion, Melfort Arts Council, and Believe in the Gold Melfort.

The 100 Women Who Care Melfort chapter is also looking to add women to their organization’s waitlist. They recently had several women depart the organization because they moved or for other reasons. Rogers said their waitlist is down to two women, and they would like to add more to ensure that their organization is full.

Rogers said she’s also excited that Tisdale is organizing their own 100 Women Who Care chapter.
