Red Earth man charged with murder has preliminary hearing date set

A man facing a murder charge after an incident on Red Earth Cree Nation will have his preliminary hearing later this year.
Cecil Whitehead of Red Earth Cree Nation is charged with one count of second-degree murder in the death of 29-year-old Gerald McKay.
Whitehead’s preliminary hearing will take place June 22 in Nipawin.
Carrot River RCMP received a report of an injured man at a home on Red Earth on June 24, 2025.
