RM of Torch River requests PDAP designation

May 6, 2026 | 12:27 PM

The Rural Municipality (RM) of Torch River has requested designation under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) for the flooding that has been occurring in the area.

The RM is waiting for the formal application window to open, and they are recommending that residents keep thorough records of the effects that flooding has had on their property.

“PDAP requires detailed evidence to process claims,” the RM stated.

Residents are advised to take detailed photos, including ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures to damaged areas and items. It’s also important to keep track of any labour hours spent on clean-up or flood prevention.

“Record the type of equipment (e.g.: pumps, fans, tractors, etc.) used including the model number and total hours operated,” said the RM.

The RM also recommends residents salve all receipts for items purchased for damage prevention, emergency repairs, or clean-up efforts. It’s also important to contact insurance providers early in the process, as residents will need a letter from them to indicate what is or is not covered.

When the PDAP designation is formalized, forms will be made available on the RM’s social media page, through their website, and in-person at the RM office.

“For now, focus on safety and documentation,” the RM stated. “We will notify the community if/when the designation application is approved and forms are ready for pick-up.”

In White Fox, residents are being asked to pump all sump pump water to the ditch, as their lift station is near capacity.

“When water is pumped down to the sewer, extra stress is placed on our pumps,” the town said in a statement. “The silt causes damage to our equipment and is a burden to our lagoon system.”
