The Ripley Ford Melfort Mustangs have bolstered their offense following another trade.

Melfort has acquired 2007-born forward Matthew Bertolin from the Thunder Bay North Stars of the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) in exchange for a player development fee (PDF).

Bertolin has two full years of Junior A experience, split between the North Stars and the Niverville Nighthawks of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL).

This past season, the Thunder Bay, Ont. native lit it up with the SIJHL champs, recording 85 points (33G-52A) over a combined 59 games, to go along with 131 penalty minutes. The 5’7″, 150-pound 18-year-old helped lead his hometown team to this past year’s Centennial Cup as the SIJHL representative, where he had an assist in four games.
