No criminal charges for Melfort RCMP officer after woman injured
A Melfort RCMP officer will not face criminal charges after a woman was injured while being taken into custody.
The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) conducted an investigation into the matter, after being informed of the incident last July.
They say a 38-year-old patient had left the Melfort Hospital, against medical advice. She had been admitted to the hospital for mental health concerns, and staff told the RCMP she was required back for treatment.
Two RCMP officers were called to the scene, and the woman was told she was being taken into custody under the Mental Health Services Act.
