Underground power system upgrades coming to Melfort

Jul 3, 2026 | 10:31 AM

Melfort residents may notice more activity on the south and west side of the city over the coming weeks.

The City of Melfort said that K-Line Maintenance and Construction will be working to complete underground power system upgrades on behalf of SaskPower.

The company will be trenching and installing new power lines, and there will be some planned power outages toward the end of the project.

“Most outages are expected to occur in the evening; however, some daytime outages may be necessary,” the City said in a news release.

The outages will be communicated in advance, and crews will try to ensure disruptions are as minimal as possible.

The work is being done from the city limits to the cemetery, from the cemetery to the G3 Elevator south of the Exhibition grounds, and from the G3 elevator to the Cheyenne Motor Products/John Deere area.

“Please note that work locations may vary from day to day based on scheduling, resident availability, and construction progress,” the City said.

Construction should be complete by the end of the month, with cleanup expected by the end of August, depending on the weather.
