Thieves target cabins in Candle Lake area

RCMP are investigating a series of break-ins that occurred earlier this month in the Candle Lake area and spanned over a 10-hour period.

On Sept. 1, around 4:30 a.m., officers responded to Patrick Drive in Candle Lake.

The investigation determined an unknown individual, or individuals, broke into a cabin and an RV at a residential property. A door at the cabin was damaged, and both the cabin and RV were rummaged through. Nipawin RCMP are still working to determine if any items were stolen.

While investigating the break-in, Nipawin RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a separate property on Patrick Drive. Investigation determined a cabin and shed were broken into and a chainsaw was later reported as stolen to police.

Further investigation determined four suspects were seen in the area around 4:15 a.m. The suspects were driving what is believed to be a dark-coloured hatchback.

Later in the day, around 1:20 p.m., RCMP received a report of a theft at a cabin on Little Bear Lake.

Police said suspect(s) damaged a door at the cabin and stole a side-by-side. The side-by-side is described as a six-seater 2023 Polaris Ranger XP 1000.

Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate, including determining any potential connection between the Candle Lake and Little Bear Lake break-ins.
