Mustangs give up four straight, drop road contest in La Ronge

The Melfort Mustangs have split their opening weekend of the 2026/27 regular season, following a road defeat in La Ronge on Saturday.

Melfort found themselves up 1-0 and 2-1 in the first half of the game, with both goals scored by new Mustang Matthew Bertolin.

Unfortunately, in both instances, the Ice Wolves tied it a minute later, quickly negating any Melfort momentum.

La Ronge then took their first lead of the game with less than a minute remaining in the second period, before adding a pair in the second to take the 5-2 victory.
