Mustangs pickup second straight shootout victory over Warman

The Melfort Mustangs completed the weekend sweep Saturday night, taking a 3-2 shootout victory at home over the Warman Wolverines.

The win came after a 6-5 shootout decision in Warman on Friday, as the Mustangs needed the skills competition both nights to take home the two points.

What’s most impressive is that their two netminders went a perfect 7-for-7 combined in the shootout over the two games.

“I don’t see them practicing shootouts all that often; our guys like to try some moves, so I guess they get their work in there. They’re looking at the players they’re facing, and they’re clearly prepared, so they came up huge for us this weekend,” explained assistant coach Clarke Huxley.
