Have your say at Coffee with Council in Melfort

Oct 15, 2026 | 4:06 PM

Melfort residents will once again have a chance to chat with city representatives next week.

Coffee with Council will be held in the Affinity Credit Union room at the Kerry Vickar Centre Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The get-together is a chance to talk with members of council in an informal setting, according to Councillor Tara Muntain.

“It’s an absolutely wonderful opportunity just to hear anything that may be an issue or a celebration from the citizens, and they can pass it along to their councillors and mayors,” Muntain said.

Coffee with Council is usually held every quarter, and Muntain said the discussions not being in a formal setting at City Hall helps people relax and ask questions or give honest feedback about issues they may have.

The first meeting had a handful of participants check it out, but they have quickly grown in interest, with several full tables discussing a variety of topics including taxes, bylaws, infrastructure, and much more. Muntain said that was the goal of the Coffee with Council events.

“That’s an ability for us to see what’s really important for everybody that’s out there,” Muntain said.

Members of council, including Mayor Glenn George, will be there to answer people’s questions, but they don’t always know the full answer off hand. Muntain said they will take time to ask city administration or research various bylaws or policies and answer questions from residents.

“We want to hear about what you think, ask any questions about what’s going on in council, or have any suggestions – reach out, we’re here for you guys.”
