‘Extraordinary generosity’: $1M donation boosts pediatric gastroenterology unit at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital

It’s another win for Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital and children in Saskatchewan.

Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation (JPCHF) received a $1 million donation from 10 donors to purchase advanced pediatric gastroenterology equipment to allow Saskatchewan’s youngest patients to receive world-class care.

In a release, Dr. Terry Klassen, the provincial pediatric department head, said the new “state-of-the-art” equipment will enhance the pediatric gastroenterology team’s ability to diagnose and treat complex conditions.

“This gift from community leaders demonstrates a profound commitment to the health and well-being of Saskatchewan’s children,” he stated.

Brynn BobackLane, JPCHF President and CEO, expressed gratitude to the 10 donors listed in the release: Jim and Lisa Yuel, Craig and Pam Lothian, Gord and Barb Broda, Malcolm Jenkins, the Sterling Hornoi Family, Greg and Olivia Yuel, the Walker Family, the Halpape Family, the Olson Family, and Duane and Bev Smith.

“This donation is a shining example of what happens when a provincial community comes together to support Saskatchewan families,” she said.

“It is their extraordinary generosity that allows our Foundation to provide JPCH with the innovative equipment that Saskatchewan children need.”

The statement further noted that this announcement follows the recruitment of Dr. Rabin Persad as a pediatric gastroenterologist by the Government of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
