Mustangs welcome Bombers ahead of nine-day break

Nov 5, 2025 | 12:37 PM

The Melfort Mustangs will welcome the Flin Flon Bombers to the Northern Lights Palace on Wednesday.

The contest is just the second meeting of the season between the two clubs, the first of which will take place in Melfort.

The first matchup of the season (Sept. 27) was a 2-1 shootout victory for the Bombers.

The Mustangs are coming off a weekend home-and-home set with the Warman Wolverines, their first-ever meeting with the new organization.

Each team won their respective home games, scoring five times in said victories.

Meanwhile, Flin Flon has won their last two contests, both of which came at home, as they downed the Nipawin Hawks and the Yorkton Terriers.

For both the Bombers and the Stangs, this evening’s match will mark the group’s last before a nine-day break.

The SJHL’s Western All-Star Challenge against the Manitoba Junior Hockey League wraps up in Martensville today, after serving as a three-day tryout for December’s Junior A World Challenge.

Blue and Green Head Coach Trevor Blevins will be back on the bench for Melfort tonight; however, the three Mustangs players who joined him won’t be seeing any playing time.

According to the club, defenceman Tao Flory and forward Tristin Ziola won’t be in the lineup, while goaltender Kason Kobelka (all of whom were at the event) will be the team’s backup.

Wednesday’s contest between Melfort and Flin Flon will begin with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
