Dancing with the Stars raises over $100k for pediatric trauma equipment in Melfort

Dec 5, 2025 | 11:30 AM

Dancing brought in some major dollars for the North Central Health Care Foundation.

The Dancing with the Stars event recently held in Melfort raised just over $100,000 to help purchase pediatric trauma equipment.

The foundation’s executive director Sarah Taylor told northeastNOW they were overwhelmed with the response to the event.

“We’re thrilled at the success [of the fundraiser],” Taylor said. “We’re thrilled at the community excitement surrounding the event.”

Taylor said the total amount of money raised was beyond what she expected, and she was excited they surpassed the $100,000 benchmark. Everyone involved with Dancing with the Stars, from the volunteers to the participants, to those in attendance, took great joy in the event, said Taylor.

In a social media post, the North Central Health Care Foundation thanked organizers Jennifer Peterson and Dinah Olson, choreographer Chisa Glendenning, Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation for their generous donation, and all dancers, sponsors, and donors for their enthusiasm and support.

Taylor said planning is already underway for next year’s Dancing with the Stars.

“If you would like to be a part of Dancing with the Stars in 2026 in any way, please contact us by email at nchcfoundation@outlook.com.”

The need for new or upgraded healthcare equipment is always there, according to Taylor.

“Unfortunately, our facilities do not receive adequate government funding for even maintenance of equipment, let alone progressive enhancements,” she said.

The North Central Health Care Foundation is truly a local organization, said Taylor, and it invests in services we all depend on at some time in our lives.

“Because of donations, our facilities can now offer some services that otherwise would require travel.”

As the end of 2025 approaches, the foundation wants residents to know that donations receive tax receipts, and those donations can be in the form of cash or even investment transfers. Taylor said the foundation would be thrilled if you would consider them for legacy gifting as well. Donations can be made to Box 1480, Melfort, SK, S0E 1A0, or you can drop off donations at Melfort Hospital or Parkland Place.
