Man sentenced after firearm incident on Shoal Lake Cree Nation

A man charged after a firearm incident on Shoal Lake Cree Nation earlier this year will spend just under a year and a half in jail. 

24-year-old Mikey Bear was sentenced to 535 days in jail at his court appearance Thursday. 

Carrot River RCMP were called June 1 about a man pointing a firearm outside a home on Shoal Lake Cree Nation. 

No one was injured. 

The investigation determined the man with the firearm had entered the residence, and he was arrested with assistance from Nipawin RCMP and the Saskachewan RCMP’s Criticial Incident Response Team.
