Mustangs commit another WHL draftee

The Melfort Mustangs have added another future piece to their organization, and one who has played in the Western Hockey League.

Carson Deichert is the newest member of the Blue and Green organization. The 17-year-old was a 2024 draft pick of the Mustangs and a 2023 draft pick of the Moose Jaw Warriors.

A Moose Jaw native, Decihert has spent the majority of the past three seasons with his hometown U18 AAA Warriors club, amassing 113 points over 116 regular-season games (44 goals and 69 assists). He’s also added 16 points in 29 playoff contests (four goals and 12 assists).

In seven career matches in the WHL, meanwhile, the 2008-born, 5-9, 146-pound forward has registered a single assist.
