A total of three northeast hockey players were selected in Thursday’s WHL Prospects Draft.

Of the three, two will stay in the province and remain teammates, while the other will look to make the jump to Alberta.

Nipawin’s own Parker Bleich was the highest selection of the three going in the fourth round, 72nd overall, to the Red Deer Rebels.

Bleich, a 15-year-old defenceman, is a somewhat recent commit of the Tisdale Trojans, having played eight games as a call-up with them late in the season, garnering a goal and three assists in those contests.

Most of his time this year was spent with the U15 AA North East Wolfpack, where he was over a point-per-game, scoring 12 times and adding 18 assists, in just 27 games.

Also selected in the fourth round of the draft was Sam Brenner, who was picked up by the Prince Albert Raiders, 85th overall.

Brenner, a 15-year-old forward from Lanigan, SK, has played the past two seasons with the U15 AA Humboldt Broncos. Tallying 95 points over the two years, 70 of those points came during the 2025/26 campaign, as he scored 28 times while adding 42 helpers in just 29 games.

Joining Brenner in P.A. will be fellow U15 AA Bronco, Maguire Hendry. The 15-year-old defenceman from Nokomis, SK, was drafted in the sixth round, 126th overall.

Hendry has also spent the past two years in Humboldt. This season was by far his best, as he registered 42 points, 15 goals and 27 assists, in just 22 regular-season matches.
