Melfort Golf Course planning for Friday opening

May 13, 2026 | 8:54 AM

Folks in Melfort should soon be able to golf in town for the first time this year.

After a lengthy winter that has carried deep into the spring, the recent warm weather and lack of snow should allow the Melfort Golf and Country Club to open this week.

According to the club, they are currently working to get the course prepped, doing slight repairs and maintenance after plenty of moisture from the melting of the snow and ice.

Touch ups to cart paths and green grass growing from the double-digit temperatures, will have it ready for Friday at 11 a.m., at least that’s the plan.

According to weather forecasts, there is rain and possibly snow predicted on and off from Thursday through Tuesday, however, the club is hoping those reports are wrong.

In the past couple of years the club is used to opening a few weeks earlier, however, May 15 – Oct. 15 have been typical run dates a while back.

With double digit plus temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday this week, it has helped a lot, and the course is hoping for more, especially in a row, to allow the community and surrounding area to once again hit the links.
