July RCMP report shows high number of calls for service
Council in Nipawin recently heard the latest RCMP report for the month of July.
The report showed that there were 654 calls for service at the RCMP detachment, with property offences higher than in the same month last year.
General Manager of Community Services Derek Seckinger said the number of calls in July was higher, but it is important to note that not every call results in a criminal investigation.
“The RCMP has been clear that they appreciate residents reporting concerns and suspicious activity,” Seckinger said. “Even when something does not result in charges, those calls help identify trends, direct resources, and provide the information needed to support staffing decisions.”
