Herbicide resistent weeds challenge growers
Many weeds in Saskatchewan have developed herbicide resistance.
Wild oats, green foxtail, kochia, wild mustard, and shepherd’s purse are the most common.
The Ministry of Agriculture is offering help to growers to determine resistance and offer alternatives to deal with the pests.
Crops Extension Intern Royce Moellenbeck said it’s important to know which herbicide group these weeds have developed a resistance to so an alternative weed management strategy can be created.
