Nipawin council approves speed limit changes on Highway 55 East
Nipawin town council has approved a recommendation from the Ministry of Highways regarding Highway 55 East.
General Manager of Community Services Derek Seckinger said there will be a change to the location of certain speed limits.
“The Ministry recommended extending the existing 50 km/h speed zone approximately 360 metres east to include the 10th Street North intersection,” explained Seckinger. “The 70 km/h transition zone will also be moved farther east.”
Seckinger said the town had received concerns about traffic speed, engine-retarder noise, and increased pedestrian and bicycle activity as development occurred in the area.
