UPDATE: One woman killed in collision south of Prince Albert Sunday night

Update: A 23-year-old woman from Sandy Bay is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 2 south of Prince Albert, RCMP said in a release issued at 10:42 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5.

Officers were called to the scene at about 7:20 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of the incident, which took place about one kilometre south of the city.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. RCMP said her family has been notified.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and neither the driver nor a passenger reported any physical injuries.

Officers from Prince Albert RCMP, the Prince Albert Police Service, fire crews and EMS responded to the collision.

“Prince Albert RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.”

No further details have been released.

The city’s police Service is advising the public of increased city police and RCMP presence in the 4400 to 4800 block of highway 2’s northbound lanes. Traffic restrictions are in place and members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
