Firefighters douse intense tractor fire southeast of Melfort

The Melfort Fire Department was called to a major tractor fire southeast of the city late Friday night.

Crews were called to the scene and found a four-wheel drive tractor fully engulfed in flames, with the fire slowly moving toward the nearby bush.

The department said the owner was able to disconnect the grain cart it was pulling from the tractor.

Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to a stack of bales, despite the intensity of the fire.
