Salvation Army looking to send kids to Beaver Creek camp

Jun 12, 2019 | 12:17 PM

The Salvation Army in Melfort is looking for more applicants for the Beaver Creek kids summer camp in July.

The camp runs from July 22 to 26 and is an opportunity for kids in the region to travel outside of town.

Jennifer Robins with the Salvation Army said the camps are a very affordable experience for families.

“We have eight spots still available and we’d love to see them filled,” Robins said. “The cost to attend camp is $240 per child, however we subsidize that and we only ask $25 per person.”

The camp experience at Beaver Creek includes archery, basketball, floor hockey, archery, football, hiking, crafts and games. Food and snacks are also provided for campers.

Robins told northeastNOW those who have attended in the past want to keep going back.

“We have some that have gone since they were teeny tiny and we’ve had some graduate to going as teen campers,” Robins said. “They feel safe there, they enjoy it, they make friends, and it’s their happy place.”

Camp applications for kids aged seven to 12 can be picked up at the store.

The Beaver Creek camp is located southwest of Saskatoon.
