Annual dance for youth put on by Kinsmen on Halloween night

Oct 30, 2019 | 11:33 AM

The Melfort Kinsmen will once again be providing a dance for the youth in the community on Halloween night.

Spookarama is a Much video dance style event aimed at ages 13 to 18.

Kinsmen member Trent Fedorychka said they hope to keep kids safe on Halloween night by hosting.

“Keep the kids off the streets and everyone can have a good time and we know everyone is going to be safe,” Fedorychka said.

The tradition of the dance began many years ago when the Lions Club would host but was eventually taken over by the Kinsmen after helping out with it for a few years.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. at the Kerry Vickar Centre with the dance continuing until midnight. The dance also features pizza provided by TJ’s Pizza as well as snacks and pop.

“The doors will close at 10. Once you are in, you are in. If you leave, you won’t be able to come back in after 10,” Fedorcyhka said.

Members of both the Kinsmen and Kinette groups will be the chaperones on the night. Parent volunteers are welcomed at the event as well.

The Nipawin Kinsmen are also hosting their Spookarama event at the Nipawin Legion starting at 8 p.m.
