Mustangs battle Broncos in home and home, hold Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday
The Melfort Mustangs are getting ready for a big weekend in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
The Mustangs will take on the Humboldt Broncos this weekend in a home and home set. Both teams are near the top of the SJHL standings with the Mustangs sitting second in the Sherwood Division with 44 points. Humboldt is first place in the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division with 45 points, just two points up on the Kindersley Klippers. After a 5-4 overtime loss on Tuesday to the Yorkton Terriers, Mustangs Assistant Coach Dan Meyers said the next stretch for the team will be a challenge.
“I think these next four games will be a lot of fun,” Meyers said. “I think the boys will be ready for that. Humboldt this Friday, and Saturday and then a week after, we’ve got Nipawin, Nipawin, which we’re excited to get back to playing some of these teams.”
The Mustangs and Broncos have only met once this season with Melfort coming out on top 3-2 in overtime on Oct. 23.
