Health Guidance event featured in Melfort on Saturday

Mar 6, 2020 | 3:00 PM

A local doctor is hosting an information session in Melfort Saturday.

Dr. Tamzyn Levendall’s Health Guidance event is being held at the Melfort Historic Post Office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The first session will serve mainly as an introduction, followed by a question and answer portion.

“I’m hoping to launch the first of, hopefully, quarterly health guidance sessions,” Dr. Levendall told northeastNOW.

She said with each session they hope to address some important health care topics that the public should know about. The sessions are focused on physical, mental, and social well-being.

Dr. Levendall said she has been thinking of organizing an event like this for the last two years.

“I’ve had some influence from some of the conferences that I’ve attended over the last couple of years, and this has inspired me to bring this to Melfort,” Dr. Levendall said.

She said it’s not just one person’s health that’s important, it’s the health of the whole community.

“There are several things in our community that we have here already that are uplifting our youth and patients who are suffering with mental illness, but I just want to bring that into one room with the community where we can talk about those things,” Levedall said. “Hopefully it’s not something that is talked about just in your doctor’s office, hopefully it’s something that we can bring to talk about openly.”

Dr. Levendall said she hopes to have the first of the sessions on May 23 at the Historic Post Office.

The public is invited to Saturday’s event to offer up suggestions on some of the topics they want to discuss, and some of those topics will be featured at the spring session.
