The Melfort Mustangs have announced their second commitment this week for the 2020/2021 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season.

Will Barrett, a 2003-born defenceman has committed to the Mustangs for next season.

The Calgary, Alta. product spent the past two seasons playing for the Airdrie Bisons in the U18 AAA league. To begin the 2020/2021 campaign, Barrett had one goal and four assists in five games before the season paused due to COVID-19.

In 2019/2020, Barrett was tied for third on the Bisons in scoring when he scored five goals and added eight assists for 13 points.

“Will brings skill and compete to our program,” Mustangs head coach and general manager Trevor Blevins said in a media release. “He has offensive instincts that compliment his size and willingness to defend.”

Barrett also had one assist in four games at the Mac’s Midget Tournament that’s hosted in Calgary during Christmas holidays.

The Mustangs also announced the commitment of Max Mills on Monday, Feb. 2.
