Camp Day

Tim Hortons raising funds to send kids to camp

Jun 5, 2019 | 11:57 AM

Tim Hortons across Saskatchewan and Canada are participating in Camp Day on June 5.

The initiative has 100 per cent of coffee sales going toward sending kids from disadvantaged circumstances to camp. Funds will come from coffee sales along with Tim Hortons Camp Day bracelet sales in stores.

“It’s something that’s a regular part of your routine everyday,” Co-Owner of Melfort’s Tim Hortons, Shannon Sigfusson said. “So it’s a great opportunity in order for everybody to give back to such a wonderful cause.”

In Melfort, Sigfusson said they are totally behind the Camp Day initiative and it’s always an exciting day for them.

“We’ve seen some of the incredible work that it’s done with some of the youth who have attended the program,” Sigfusson told northeastNOW. “So it’s just really encouraging to see the difference that something like that can make in a young person’s life.”

Along with their sister store in Tisdale, about $10,000 was raised between the two stores. In Melfort, they have sent around 10 kids to camp, and they plan to send their first youth from Tisdale to camp this year.

At the Melfort store today, a silent auction is available and a barbecue will be hosted from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. All of the funds from both will go toward Camp Day.
