RCMP say the circumstances surrounding a woman’s death in Creighton earlier this month are not criminal in nature.

In a statement emailed to paNOW on Thursday, Saskatchewan RCMP said they continue to investigate the Oct. 6 death of Tristin Jobb at the Phantom Lake Golf Club.

The response comes after the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) joined the mother of Tristin Jobb in calling for RCMP to further investigate the death.

Val Charlette, Jobb’s mother, filed a complaint with the FSIN’s Special Investigations Unit believing the death was suspicious in nature and asking RCMP to do more and take the matter seriously.

In response, RCMP said they conducted numerous interviews with witnesses and those who saw or interacted with Tristin the day before her death, adding the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit was, and continues to be engaged, in the investigational process. An autopsy was also completed, and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service investigation continues.

“Based on the fulsome evidence gathered to date, including autopsy results, there is nothing to indicate Tristin Jobb’s cause of death is criminal in nature,” the statement reads.

“Saskatchewan RCMP’s investigation will remain open until all investigative avenues are exhausted. If any new information comes forward, it will be followed up on by investigators.

“Our thoughts continue to be with Tristin’s loved ones during this difficult time.”
