RCMP disable homemade explosive device found near Tisdale business

Oct 31, 2022 | 4:56 PM

An explosive device had to be disabled after being found in Tisdale this past weekend.

Around 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 29, RCMP received a report of a suspicious package behind a business on 100 Street in Tisdale.

They, along with conservation officers from the Provincial Protective Services Branch, were able to safely evacuate nearby buildings and reroute traffic from the area as Saskatchewan RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) addressed the package.

They were able to determine that it did contain a small homemade explosive/incendiary device.

After disabling it, RCMP searched the surrounding area but found no other packages. At this time, they don’t believe there’s a risk to the public’s safety stemming from this incident.

RCMP and the EDU continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to contact the Tisdale detachment at 306-878-3810 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online.
