Mustangs add extra blue line depth for 2023-24 season

Feb 15, 2023 | 11:26 AM

The Melfort Mustangs announced that 2005-born defenceman Jackson MacIntosh has committed to the club for the 2023-24 season.

The Sherwood Park, Alta. product, has spent this season with his hometown Sherwood Park Kings of the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL).

In 32 games at the U18 AAA level, the assistant captain has four goals and 14 assists for 18 points. His four goals are a team-high among defencemen.

“Jackson brings a high level of skill and hockey IQ to our defence,” said Mustangs head coach and general manager Trevor Blevins. “He will be an effective player for us on both sides of the puck.”

MacIntosh and the Kings were also at the Circle K Classic over the Christmas Break, where he scored once and added a helper.

During the 2021-22 season, the five-foot-11, 185-pound blueliner suited up in 30 games for the Sherwood Park Oilers U18 AA club. MacIntosh scored seven times and added 18 apples during that span.

As for the blue and green, they host the Kindersley Klippers at the Northern Lights Palace tonight, for their 47th game of the year.
