Bowling brought in some big bucks in Humboldt.

The 44th annual Bowl for Kids Sake fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Humboldt was a huge hit again this year.

Marketing and Events Support Tammy Ruedig told northeastNOW the organization was thrilled with the way the event turned out.

“We had about 16 teams participate and we managed to raise right around $20,000 which is exactly where our goal was so we’re very happy with that,” Ruedig said.

She added BBBS was thankful for the sponsors, pledge donors, and the bowlers who participated in making the event a success.

Bowl for Kids Sake is one of Humboldt Big Brothers Big Sisters’ main fundraisers and Ruedig said all money brought in from the fundraiser stays in Humboldt.

“It helps us to put on programming for youth, it helps us with the costs of recruitment so that we can get new mentors and new youth involved in our programs,” explained Ruedig.

The money is needed to keep those programs going, according to Ruedig, in addition to creating awareness around the community and surrounding communities about the importance of mentorship.

The event is vitally important to Humboldt BBBS’ bottom line, but just as important, it’s also a lot of fun.

“The businesses come out, have fun with their co-workers, and it’s just a very relaxed atmosphere raising money for a good cause,” Ruedig said.

The fundraiser was held at Kemway Lanes Feb. 5-9.
