The Nipawin Hawks won their final road game of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) Tuesday with a convincing 5-2 win in Melville.

Taking on the Millionaires and former Head Coach Doug Johnson for the final time and facing three straight losses the Hawks took over in the second half of the game to take the season series with the Millionaires.

Nipawin opened the scoring with Chase Visser’s 11th of the season, Melville responded with a pair going up 2-1, but the Hawks answered with four unanswered goals to pick up the win. Artem Hrabovetskyi tied the game with his 15th of the season in the first period, Finley Radloff scored the game winner in the second, Braeden Jockims notched his 12th and Nipawin’s 15th shorthanded goal of the season. Radloff concluded the scoring with his team leading 22nd goal of the campaign into an empty net. Head Coach Tad Kozun was very pleased with his team’s performance.

“The first period was back-and-forth, and I didn’t think we were playing our best,” he said on the final postgame show on 750 Beach Radio of the season. “I thought the second period we came out and played a more complete game, we were just executing everything at a higher level.”
