Mustangs hope to start new winning streak as they host Flin Flon

The Melfort Mustangs look to get back on the winning track on home ice against the Flin Flon Bombers Wednesday night, as they close out their October schedule.

The Mustangs had their five-game winning streak snapped in Weyburn on Saturday as they dropped a 5-3 decision to the Red Wings.

Melfort’s record is now 10-3 on the season, while Flin Flon comes into the game with a 6-8-1 record.

Goaltending and defence have been key for the Mustangs so far this season, with Kristian Coombs and Madden Mulawka second and fourth in the league in goals against average respectively.

Logan Belton leads the squad with points with 19, which is good for fifth in the SJHL.

Melfort is 2-1 against Flin Flon this season, with the Mustangs winning both games between the two teams at the Northern Lights Palace and the Bombers taking the lone game so far at the Whitney Forum.
