Nipawin Fire Department called to several weekend fires

Fire crews from Nipawin had a busy weekend. 

They were called late Saturday afternoon about a camper fire in Pontrilas, about 16 kilometres south of Nipawin.

That was followed up on Sunday by a call about a downed power line and brush fire, and a ditch fire just past the bridge that evening.

The landowner in that case was able to stop the spread before fire crews arrived.

The Nipawin Fire Department has responded to 69 calls so far this year. 

Meanwhile, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is reporting 3 active wildfires in the province. Only one of them, a human-caused fire burning near Montreal Lake, is not contained.
