Melfort’s Go Out and Play kickoff set for Sunday

Feb 26, 2020 | 3:00 PM

Go Out and Play day is set for this Sunday at Memorial Gardens in Melfort.

From 1 to 3 p.m., there will be crokicurl, a jewel hunt, snow painting, swooshing, walking bingo as well as a wiener roast and hot chocolate.

Recreation Programmer with the City of Melfort Shannon Marshall told northeastNOW the challenge is hosted by Sask. In-Motion.

“This will help everybody log minutes so the profile creation is up right now,” Marshall said. “We just want everyone in Melfort to get as active as possible and log their minutes.”

The Go Out and Play challenge runs from March 1 to 10, which is when those minutes can be logged at challenge.saskinmotion.ca.

All of the community minutes logged online will be posted at the Northern Lights Palace pool for everyone to keep track of and see.

The community scavenger hunt is still also underway and can be used toward the challenge minutes as well.

Last year’s event also included the crokicurl bonspiel which proved to be a great success so Marshall is hopeful this year will be no exception.

“The weather looks good as well so it should be great fun,” Marshall said.

Participants can get their crokicurl teams registered by calling 752-7200.

According to Marshall, there are some exciting events to be announced for next over the coming days.

“We just want to get more people more active, more often,” she said.
