Tisdale Air Cadet selected to receive highly coveted glider pilot training scholarship.

Warrant Officer First Class Samuel Benjamin of 624 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, has been selected for a scholarship that will enable him to graduate with a Transport Canada Glider Pilot Licence..

Warrant Officer First Class Benjamin, who has been a cadet for five years, received the good news at the squadron’s training night on May 25, 2022. The process for selection included the completion of the Online Glider Pilot Ground School earlier this year, a final exam in January 2022, and an interview with a selection board. The six week long training starts in July 2022 in Brandon, Manitoba.

Warrant Officer First Class Benjamin said he is honored to receive the scholarship and excited to start the next phase of his aviation career and eventually to become a fighter pilot.

Warrant Officer First Class Benjamin had previously completed summer training in survival at Cold Lake Cadet Training Centre and aviation airport operations virtually.

The aim of the Cadet Program is to develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership, promote physical fitness and stimulate the interest of youth in sea, land and air activities of the Canadian Armed Forces. Canadian youth aged 12 to 18 and their families are encouraged to learn more about the cadet programs in their community.
