Woman sentenced to jail after colliding with police cruiser

A woman charged after a police chase in May has been sentenced on two counts. 

Alyssa Natewayes will spend 55 days in jail and have other conditions, including a driving prohibition, after being sentenced late last month. 

Nipawin RCMP were called about a suspect who left a business without paying for merchandise and left in an SUV. 

A vehicle matching the SUV’s description was spotted in the White Fox area, and the SUV fled from police at a high speed. 

The SUV later struck a parked police vehicle on Highway 35 near Nipawin, and Natewayes was arrested at the scene.

She was sentenced on charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with a release order condition, while charges of flight from a peace officer and assault on a police officer were stayed.
