Enge looking to re-join Melfort Council in 2020 municipal election

It’s another kick at the can for a Melfort man looking to get back onto Melfort City Council.

Brian Enge was elected to council in 2012, but lost out on re-election in 2016 by just 12 votes. He hopes to get back on this year and see projects be fulfilled and completed.

“I’d like to be on council again to help continue all of the projects that have been worked on here in Melfort,” Enge told northeastNOW. “As well as work on the ones that are going to continue building into the future.”

Enge said back in 2012, he ran because he wanted to help the community, and it was something he enjoyed. He said being on council previously gives him a good understanding of the time commitment needed for the job, and the processes of the various committees.

There’s a few things on Enge’s mind as he attempts to rejoin the council chambers. The first being continued development at Spruce Have Park in Melfort, and the second being continued improvement and upgrading of infrastructure in Melfort. That includes water line repairs and replacement that has been a major topic of conversation for a number of years now.

“The fact is, the water loss is an issue here in Melfort,” he said. “And those water lines, they do need to be updated.”

Enge touched on the Urban Highway Connector program as one step in improving the roads, sidewalks, and water lines in the city, saying they need to continue to do those kinds of things at a limited tax impact to the citizens.

A Melfort native, Enge has lived in the city most of his life. He and his wife have two children. He currently works at Melody Motors as a sales consultant.

He also encouraged everyone in the city to get out and make their voices heard by voting in the upcoming municipal election.

“When you vote, you’ve got that voice in your community,” Enge said. “So, that way, hopefully the future that everyone here in Melfort sees, is the same as the elected officials.”

Voters head to the polls Nov. 9.
