Tisdale’s mayor says he is pleased with the town’s progress in the past year.

Over the last month a Buy-Low Foods store opened along with a Tim Hortons franchise. A Sobeys Liquor store is also due to open their doors soon as well. Al Jellicoe said he can’t remember a more prosperous year for the community.

“This is the biggest year I think ever in Tisdale,” he told northeastNOW in a year end interview. “It’s pretty exciting to be part of it all.”

Jellicoe added the construction of a new town public works shop is another highlight.

The Beeland Co-op is set to open a new grocery store in 2018 as well as a new agri-food facility operated by Hanfood Holding Group. Jellicoe said the momentum will continue into next year.

“There’s people talking about constructing new houses and some new buildings. 2018 will be another good year,” Jellicoe said.

Back in November the town hosted over 20 companies for a first of its kind job fair to help existing and new businesses fill labour needs.
