Northeast Christian Academy hold successful Taste of the World fundraiser

Mar 19, 2020 | 12:00 PM

Northeast Christian Academy held their Taste of the World fundraising supper last Saturday at Northeast Christian Fellowship in Melfort.

The fundraiser had volunteers cook food from various countries in the world including Nigeria, South Africa, and the Philippines and allowed attendees to try them all.

“Auctions went well,” said Principal Heather Ferguson. “We raised a good amount of money towards our playground and we’re very happy with how it turned out.”

About $6,000 was raised at the event to go towards the academy’s playground project. The playground would go behind the existing Northeast Christian Fellowship building and would have some ladders, swings, and climbing apparatus’. They’ve currently raised about one-third of the total they need for the playground.

Ferguson added they hope to continue building the Taste of the World event.

“It has been our most succesful fundraiser every year,” she said. “And it’s certainly well attended and everyone that comes feels very satisfied with the event.”

Next for the academy was supposed to be a supper fundraising event at Boston Pizza, but that has been pushed back as of right now.
