Man charged after using bear spray on employee, RCMP officer in Nipawin

A 32-year-old man has been charged after an assault at a business in Nipawin.

RCMP were called to the business on First Avenue East last Thursday night about an assault with a weapon.

The investigation determined a man went into the business and sprayed an employee with bear spray.

The man was found by officers, ran away, and soon after sprayed the officer in the face with the spray.

The initial victim and the officer were treated by Nipawin EMS on scene for minor injuries.

The suspect was found and arrested the next day.

Clinton Head of Red Earth Cree Nation has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of resisting a peace officer, one count of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Head made his first court appearance on Friday, and will return to Nipawin Provincial Court on Wednesday.
