The Melfort Mustangs have announced a new signing for the 2024/25 season.

Talen Lewis has committed to the Blue and Green for the upcoming year.

The 2006-born forward from Airdrie, Alta., spent this season with the U18 AAA Calgary Buffaloes in the U18 AAA Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL).

In 37 regular season games, the 6-2, 194-pound 17-year-old had eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points, to go along with 80 penalty minutes.

Meanwhile, through six postseason games, he accumulated two helpers.

Lewis has been described by the Mustangs organization as a “physical presence, who brings a high compete level with skill and a high hockey IQ.

The club also added he will be “an excellent addition to their team next season,” while also welcoming him and his family to Melfort.

Lewis has other experience in the U18 AEHL, having played parts of two seasons with his hometown Airdrie CFR Bisons, where he posted 10 points in a combined 38 games.

Prior to that experience, he also played with the AC Avalanche U16 AAA, Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA, and Airdrie Lighting U15 AA hockey clubs.
